Vodafone loses in the first half but revises upwards the estimates for the 2015-6 financial year

The world's second-largest mobile operator revises its full-year 2015-6 budgetary targets upwards despite losses in the first half of 2015 due to rising transmission network improvement costs – As at 30 September, Vodafone lost 1,7 billion pounds with an Ebitda down but higher than expected

Vodafone loses in the first half but revises upwards the estimates for the 2015-6 financial year

First half of 2015 with a £1,7bn red for the Vodafone group, which pays above all the previous taxes in Luxembourg and the costs for the improvement of the transmission networks. In the first half of last year, however, the Vodafone group recorded a profit of 5,4 billion pounds. Without considering these extraordinary and one-off items, Vodafone reports an adjusted half-year operating profit of 1,6 billion and an Ebitda which returns to organic growth of 1,9% to 5,8 billion pounds.

The group has though revised upwards guidance on profitability for the full year as of March 31, 2016: now the company expects an annual EBITDA between 11,7 billion to 12 billion pounds, against the previous indication of 11,5 billion.

From the top management of the global telephony giant they let it be known that the trend "in the first part of the current financial year was in line with our expectations". Vodafone also estimates that "the trend in revenues and profitability will improve in the second half of the year". 

I Vodafone revenues in the first half of this year have dropped to 20,2 billion (-2,3%), but those from services, net of the exchange rate effect and merger and acquisition activity (on an organic basis) rose by 1%, to 18,4 billion.
