Virtual street art and music for the launch of the Golinelli Arts and Sciences Center and the UNPRECEDBLE exhibition

Wednesday 11 October at the Opificio Golinelli in Bologna open-air performance by Rusty with musical intervention by Ezio Bosso to christen the new Arts and Sciences Center of the Golinelli Foundation - The exhibition "UNPREDICTABLE, be ready for the future" is also inaugurated without knowing how it will be".

Music and virtual street art for the baptism of the new Golinelli Arts and Sciences Center of the Golinelli Foundation. On the occasion of the launch of the space designed by Mario Cucinella Architects, *whose opening to the public is scheduled for Friday 13 October at 17 pm* together with the art and science exhibition "UNPREDICTABLE, being ready for the future without knowing how it will be", will be held *Wednesday 11 October at 19.15* an open-air performance of notes and light in the square next to Opificio Golinelli (via Paolo Nanni Costa, 14), precisely on the birthday of the founder and philanthropist Marino Golinelli, 97 years old brought to the very top. The inaugural event is designed ad hoc for the new Center, an introductory metaphor to the excavation work that will characterize the Golinelli Foundation's approach to the theme of art and science. Straddling music and light, the performance, unpublished in Italy, is a conceptual narration of the symbolic alliance between the arts and sciences, a mirror of the thought that supports the future projects of the Foundation.

At the center of the appointment, the visual creations of the Bolognese street artist *Rusty* who will "paint" the external wall of the Golinelli Arts and Sciences Center in dialogue with the music of the master *Ezio Bosso* who will play inside Opificio Golinelli, but that outdoor audiences will be able to follow live on a big screen. Thus, while the façade of the Center will come alive with Rusty's virtual colors in the same liturgical time of 45 minutes, the musical intervention by Ezio Bosso will take place, in the program "From Bach to Bosso". For the occasion, the maestro will be accompanied here by the STRADIVARI*festival *CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, making his second public appearance after his debut at the Stradivari festival in Cremona.

“The leitmotif of Rusty's work – explains Andrea Zanotti, president of the Golinelli Foundation – will be represented by four scenes: a child who witnesses the spark of knowledge, symbolized by the touching of the forefingers of God and Adam in the Sistine Chapel; the consequences represented by the temptation of knowledge that the snake offers in the form of an apple; the technique that germinates from that science and leads to technological development; the current crisis of meaning that technological development seems to bring with it and finally the hope that the relationship between art and science can help that child and future generations to regain an overall sense of the human adventure and the cosmos that hosts it. A single event, conceived in the same unit of time, according to a double scan - concludes the president Zanotti - whose interpretation key is the immateriality of art that feeds on the air space of what concerns music and which is gathered in the light, matrix of all colors, as far as visual art is concerned”.

Born from the meeting between Luca Ciancabilla, art historian and researcher at the University of Bologna, and Filiberto Strazzari, creative new media expert (D-sign agency), virtual street art is an experimental project that sees its first application. “The idea – they explain – is to give life to a performance in which, on the one hand, the world of graffiti and street art can confront the new virtual reality technologies, and on the other, the world of virtual reality, which offers today “closed” personal experiences, it is proposed here as a collective experience”.

Rusty, after wearing a visor, will be catapulted into a virtual environment that reproduces the Center in front of the public. In the virtual world he will be able to walk and paint using the digital version of the usual "tools of the trade": stencils, cans and telescopic brushes. While the artist paints on the 3D model, his work is projected in streaming, brushstroke after brushstroke, on the new space of the Foundation thanks to videomapping technology (curated by two light artists Martino Chiti and Nicola Buttari of Proforma). The virtual graffiti is then seen by everyone in the real world. However, not according to the usual visual experience, since the temperas, varnishes and pigments will be composed of pure light.

"From Bach to Bosso: a constant throughout my musical experience, the father of every musician who through the centuries dialogues with all of us on a daily basis - writes maestro Ezio Bosso - a continuous source of inspiration for anyone who makes music, the artist in which is the nucleus of all musical thought, as well as the first composer who unequivocally clarifies the very close relationship between music and mathematics, which in turn is the mother of all science, the inescapable foundation of contemporary technological progress. Bach has always been the cornerstone of my work and this happening will be a new chapter in a very long dialogue that never ceases to surprise me and my audience".

Rusty's performance is a play of light that will leave no trace, with the projector off, except in a hard disk. The blank slate left by the turning off of the spotlights will instead be written and colored by the ten third grade students of the Maestre Pie first grade secondary school, called to express their imagination and creativity on art and science, to whom the Golinelli Foundation entrusts a hope for the future which is already theirs.
