The Belgian politician said today that he "fully supports the possible actions of the Eurotower to tackle the fragmentation of the markets", because some spreads in the Eurozone "are not justified by the economic fundamentals of the respective countries"

According to Van Rompuy, “i EU leaders intend to respond to the systemic nature of this crisis. I have spoken to various exponents in recent days and I can confirm their political will".

Van Rompuy will meet Prime Minister Mario Monti this weekend, in the context of a whirlwind of consultations between European leaders in this phase of intense work, aimed at finding a solution to enter a path of exit from the public debt crisis. 

In the meantime, tomorrow the directorate of the ECB will decide on any extraordinary interventions to be implemented.
