The preliminary data on the US consumer confidence surveyed by the University of Michigan improves and beats analysts' expectations. In fact, the index stands in December progressing to 67,7 from 64,1 in November, better than the forecasts of the experts who expected a rise to 65,8.
This is the highest level in six months and indicates that American consumers are more optimistic. As regards inflation, expectations on the 12-month price increase fell to 3,1% in December, while those for 5-year inflation remain unchanged at 2,7%), in line with the two previous months.
