Producer prices rise in the United States in July. The increase is 7,2% on a trend basis and 0,2% on a quarterly basis. The numbers follow the monthly decline of 0,4% recorded in June, when compared to the same period of 2010 growth had stopped at 7%. The data rises more than expected. Analysts had predicted zero change.
Excluding food and the energy sector, the most volatile components, the increase is 0,4%, compared with 0,3% the previous month. Also in this case there was an increase higher than expected, which stopped at +0,2%. The energy component recorded a drop of 0,6% and the food component an increase of 0,6%. Prices of intermediate goods finally rose by 0,2%
