Unipol buys 3,5% of Bper Banca which flies to the Stock Exchange

Unipol climbs into Bper Banca which engages fifth gear at the opening of Piazza Affari and runs to the top of the Ftse Mib.

The insurance group announced today that it had purchased 15.629.789 ordinary shares of the banking institution, a number which in percentage terms corresponds to approximately 3,25% of the share capital of Bper itself. The cost of the operation is equal to 4,72 euro per share for a total amount of 73,8 million euro.

The purchase was concluded through a reverse accelerated bookbuilding procedure aimed exclusively at qualified investors and foreign institutional investors. JP Morgan Securities plc, Mediobanca and Equita SIM acted as authorized intermediaries and joint bookrunners.

The settlement of the operation will take place on 26 June 2018.

The shareholding structure of Bper therefore changes. Unipol, which before today's purchase held, through its subsidiary UnipolSai Assicurazioni, approximately 9,87% of the share capital reaches 13,1%. However, the Bologna holding announces that it does not want to stop and that it wants to reach 19,9% even though it does not intend to exercise control "even de facto".

As mentioned, the news that arrived in the morning made the Bper share soar on the stock exchange. At 14.05 the shares gained 7,47% to 4,799 euros against the +2% achieved by the sector index. The Unipol share instead travels at +0,9% at €3,515 (Ftse Mib +0,9%).
