Unicredit aims at 20% of women in management

Unicredit more and more pink. The bank in Piazza Gae Aulenti has announced its intention to bring the number of women in senior management roles to around 2022% by 20. This objective is part of the Diversity Development Plan promoted by the Bank and in line with the commitment made with the signing of the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter, the Charter of Principles of Women in Finance of the British Treasury , launched last July. The Bank will also designate a member of the management team to be responsible for gender diversity and inclusion within the Group.

“Gender diversity – commented the CEO Jean Pierre Mustier – is crucial to ensure innovation and sustainable results. Unicredit, as a pan-European bank, is enriched by the diversity of its workforce and aims to create a positive working environment, where talent, skills and experience are valued and where different points of view can be openly expressed. All of this is essential to achieve the goal of becoming the best place to work in the European financial sector. Gender equality is an important building block, and we are aware that we still have a long way to go in this direction. We are taking decisive steps to value diversity and continuously improve gender equality at all levels of the Group, and the target of 20% by 2022 is a clear example of this.”

A number of specific gender equality targets will also be outlined for selected management roles, including bridging the pay gap and, more generally, other gender diversity initiatives. Further objectives have been defined, both at Group and local level, such as: increasing the number of women candidates for leadership roles, monitoring equity in the candidate shortlist and guaranteeing equal opportunities in the selection process. The progress achieved on the diversity and inclusion front is monitored through the Gender Balance Dashboard and published in the Group's annual integrated report. The 20% target at Group level is part of the Diversity Development Plan promoted by the Bank, launched in 2017, which aims to develop and support diversity at all company levels, undertaking specific initiatives relating to recruitment and the search for talents, professional development, remuneration, work-life balance, information and training. In 2018, a Diversity and Inclusion Committee was set up to monitor the progress of these initiatives.
