Unicredit: agreement with the unions on human and social rights

Unicredit signs an agreement with trade unions on human and trade union rights. The bank led by Jean Pierre Mustier has signed an agreement with UNI Global Union, the international federation that unites trade unions in the service sector, which "sets a new standard of behavior for financial institutions"

The agreement commits the bank to specific issues such as the defense of human rights, the fight against sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior and bullying. Unicredit is also committed to combating discrimination and promoting diversity.

There are also rules concerning trade union rights: Unicredit will guarantee "a positive working environment, the right to freedom of association and a better balance between work and private life, in line with the joint declarations previously signed with the Unicredit European Works Council . The document also includes a section on the promotion of healthy and safe working conditions for all employees and another on the group's commitment to responsible sales of financial products.

Jean Pierre Mustier, CEO of Unicredit, commented: “At Unicredit we believe that to do well we must also do good and always acting ethically is fundamental in this. Our success depends on respect: an open culture that allows all our people to add value to our business.”

Christy Hoffman, Secretary General of UNI Global Union, added: “This agreement sets a new standard of behavior for our financial institutions, bringing employee and customer rights to the fore.
