EU, Rehn: "Rating agencies are interested arbiters"

According to Brussels' economic affairs commissioner, giants like Standard & Poor's, which recently downgraded 9 eurozone countries, "are not impartial research institutes, but they have their own interests and act very much in terms of American financial capitalism" – “Someone has already gained a lot from the destabilization of the euro”.

EU, Rehn: "Rating agencies are interested arbiters"

Il downgrading of nine eurozone countries by Standard & Poor's did not go down at the top in Brussels. And several voices have already been raised against the rating agencies. The most authoritative is that of the EU commissioner for economic and monetary affairs, Olli Rehn, who in an interview with the Finnish network Yle Tv1 heavily questioned the impartiality and objectivity of the rating agencies' analyses.

“We must remember – said the commissioner – that rating agencies are not objective arbiters or impartial research institutes, but who have their own interests and act very much in terms of American finance capitalism.” Rehn added that someone surely made a lot of profits thanks to the destabilization of the euro.
