Green light from the European Commission to the purchase of Alstom's energy sector by General Electric. The decision comes after an in-depth examination, and has the condition that some key assets of the French group in the field of "heavy duty" gas turbines are sold to Ansaldo.
The sale to the Italian company concerns the turbines used mainly in gas-fired power plants. The commitments undertaken by GE take into account Brussels' concerns regarding the elimination of one of the major competitors of the US group on a global scale.
