EU opens investigation against joint venture between Alitalia, Air-France and Delta

The European Commission will verify whether the three members of Sky Team have broken EU antitrust regulations – The investigation aims to ensure that the joint venture does not harm passengers on routes between Europe and the United States by limiting competition.

On the joint venture between Alitalia, Air-France-Klm and Delta the EU is not convinced. The European Commission has in fact opened a preliminary investigation against the three members of Sky Team, who may have broken EU antitrust rules. As the Commission explains, the preliminary investigation aims to ensure that the agreement does not harm passengers on routes between Europe and the United States.

The Commission also said that antitrust proceedings have been formally closed regarding cooperation agreements between the eight members of the Sky Team alliance: Aeromexico, Air France, Alitalia, Continental Airlines, Czech Airlines, Delta, KLM and Korean Air Lines .
