TV, Vodafone relaunches: digital terrestrial, Sky and Netflix with a single decoder

The union between TV and the Internet is gaining ground. Vodafone responds to the launch of Timvision by entering one of the most promising markets for the future of telecommunications. The new product, presented on Monday in Milan, is called Vodafone tv and presses forcefully on the integration pedal.

The basic idea is simple: only one decoder to receive DTT e streamingin direct e on demand. Which means to put together traditional television, Sky, Netflix, Chile and more. All on the same platform, with the same interface. And especially in the same bill: that of Vodafone optical fiber customers, for whom the product is intended. It is also possible to view on the move with theapp for smartphones and tablets.

"The way of watching TV is changing, turning into an increasingly personal experience, but two elements can hold back access to content: technology and cost - he explains to FIRSTonline Roberto Porras, marketing manager of Vodafone TV – What we offer is a unique gateway to the best of traditional, on demand and online content. In this way we add an entertainment offer to the connectivity offer”.

The Vodafone TV fee is 10 euros every four weeks (plus 29 euros for the decoder and 120 in case of withdrawal before 24 months) and includes, in addition to free-to-air digital terrestrial channels, the entertainment package of Now TV, the Sky web-TV (including Sky Uno, Fox Life, Skysport 24, Eurosport, Eurosport 2 and Disney Channel). It is also possible to add other packages, but they are paid separately: TV series and cinema cost 5 euros a month each (even if the first one is offered free for three months to new customers), football and sports cost 19,99 and 29,99 respectively euro per month (the second can also be purchased for a day or a week). It is also part of the 10 euro basic offer a range of on-demand content, the result of various agreements signed by Vodafone with companies such as Sony, 20th Century Fox, the BBC and National Geographic.

“In recent months we have concluded many agreements and we intend to close others shortly – continues Porras – to further enrich the contents of the on demand sections, the apps and also the digital terrestrial. Precisely in this section, thanks to the partnerships with Discovery, De Agostini and Viacom International Media Network, the channels have a series of additional functions for pausing programs, recording them and reviewing those of the previous week".

In addition to those of Now TV, the on-demand offers of Vodafone TV can also be purchased separately Netflix (time passes) e Chile (single contents). The latter offers a rotation of 14 free films, four of which are first releases, even if the titles are not chosen by the customers. The prices of Netflix and Chili are the standard ones but you don't need a credit card, traditionally not loved by Italians. It all comes in the Vodafone bill.
