Toyota, 70% of cars will be hybrid

Hybrid cars are at the heart of the strategy of the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota which will soon devote 70% of the production of Lexus luxury cars to this type of car. This was stated by Akihisa Yoshida, head of the South Korean subsidiary of Toyota. To compete with German diesel vehicles, Yoshida said "we will continue to focus on hybrid models".

Yoshida also said it will sell 13 cars, including 6 Lexus, in Korea this year. Toyota placed just 12.863 Lexus and other cars in Korea last year, an 18 percent drop in sales even as Seoul's auto import market simultaneously soared 20 percent. The automotive group will open a new showroom in the exclusive district of Gangnam, on the model of the one opened in Dubai, to expand its turnover in the country. Toyota recently launched the Lexus CT200h, a three-door compact car partially modeled after an earlier 2011 model. It features a 136-horsepower engine and has a fuel consumption of one liter per 18,1 kilometers.
