Tlc: Agcom, new rules on telephone contracts: more protection for users

Better protection for users in contracts for the supply of telephone and Internet services. L'Communications Regulatory Authority, in fact, has established measures to guarantee the right of users to consciously choose their own telephone operator, avoiding the hitherto widespread risk of unsolicited activations or activations requested on the basis of incomplete or misleading information.

Furthermore, Agcom has defined precise information obligations for operators, relating above all to contracts concluded at a distance or away from business premises. Another of the Authority's objectives - explains an Agcom press release - is that of greater clarity on the contractual changes decided unilaterally by the operators, who from today on will have to clearly communicate the changes to the conditions in force.

The minimum initial commitment of the contracts cannot exceed, for consumers, the 24 months. The new regulations will take effect in 60 days, thus giving companies time to adapt.
