TikTok said No to Microsoft and "maybe" to Oracle. ByteDance, the Chinese company that controls the platform, has rejected Microsoft's offer to buy TikTok's US assets. “ByteDance let us know today that it will not be selling TikTok's US operations to Microsoft,” the Redmond group said. In parallel, as revealed by the Wall Street Journal, the Chinese giant would have given the green light to Oracle. A few hours later, however, the denial of the Chinese state television broadcaster China Global Television Network and the attack of the Chinese Foreign Minister's spokesman: "The hunt for TikTok in the US - said Wang Wenbin - is a typical example of US government extortion. China strongly opposes this act and will strongly support the affected company to protect its legal rights and interests." The declaration ended with an unequivocal sentence: “We do not accept American bullying".
We remember that tomorrow, September 15, the deadline set by Trump expires. If ByteDance does not sell, the platform will be forced to close its doors in the US on September 29 due to the ban imposed by the president. Trump accused the popular social network of being a spy vehicle for China and signed executive orders to force ByteDance to quickly sell TikTok assets in America.
The operation between ByteDance and Oracle anticipated by the US newspapers is not a real sale. According to some sources cited by Reuters, the US company will become a technological partner and will manage the data of American users of Tiktok. The US group would also be negotiating a stake in the US assets of the App managed by ByteDance. The agreement should be finalized by November 12, but it will be needed sooner the approval of the agreement by the White House and the Foreign Investment Commission in the United States. According to analysts, however, the solution chosen by ByteDance could please Trump.
Meanwhile, TikTok's decision is already creating a lot of excitement on the stock market. On Wall Street they indicate Oracle is on the rise, with an increase of 5,6% to 60,24 dollars. Purchases also on Microsoft (+2%).
