Terna closes Next Energy: 200 candidates from all over Italy

The company has closed the tender which will lead to the selection, in October, of 15 talents who will be accepted for a paid internship. For the best 20 projects, a selection will be held in September with prizes of 50, 30 and 20 thousand euros to develop the initiatives. The initiative in collaboration with the Milan Polytechnic foundation

It closed on Monday, with over 200 applications received, the call for access to the Next Energy project conceived by Terna, manager of the National Electricity Grid and by the Cariplo Foundation, and implemented by Cariplo Factory with the support of PoliHub, Startup District & Incubator of the Foundation - Politecnico di Milano.

The photograph taken on the basis of the analysis of the profiles received confirms the strong interest of the candidates for new technologies and innovation, with 70% of the projects addressing the theme of smart grids and storage. The geographical composition of the enrolled students shows a substantial parity between the Universities of Southern and Northern Italy which together cover 76% of the total applications; followed by the universities of Central Italy with 24%; the participation of some foreign universities should also be noted.

The web is confirmed as the main tool for knowledge and dissemination of the initiative; in fact, over 67% of subscribers came into contact with the Next Energy project through web portals and social channels. The project, dedicated to young engineering graduates and teams of young researchers with an innovative idea to develop, was created to accelerate and encourage youth employment and entrepreneurship in the electricity sector.

I 15 talents selected among young under 28 graduateswill carry out a paid internship period at one of Terna's offices, from 3 October 2016 to 31 March 2017.
Top 20 teams instead, they will have access to the Innovation Days that will be held in Milan on 19-20 September, with the aim of deepening their project proposal and preparing an effective presentation.

Will selected 10 business or startup projects who will have access to a 6-month entrepreneurial empowerment and acceleration program coordinated by PoliHub. At the end of the program, the projects will be presented to a Jury which will select the best 3, who will obtain vouchers to be used for the development of the project, worth respectively50.000 euros for the first place, 30.000 for the second place and 20.000 for the third place.
