Telecom needs to be recapitalised. This is the message launched by Franco Lombardi, president of the Telecom Italia shareholders' association, to Cassa depositi e prestiti. Lombardi spoke on the sidelines of a hearing in the Chamber, specifying that only with the introduction of new financial resources will the company be able to improve its capital structure.
In reality, it would be up to Telco, the controlling shareholder, to find the resources. But the debt of the holding company suggested other "natural partners" to Lombardi: Cassa depositi e prestiti and the Strategic Fund. “Both joined Snam to help Eni and Generali to do the Bank of Italy a favor – said the president of Asati – because they shouldn't put the money into a strategic company for the country which, if it defaults, goes into a systemic crisis?
Lombardi's words come after those of Franco Bernabè, president of the group, which had instead ruled out a capital increase. What is certain is that the sea continues to be rough in the Telecom house, recently affected by the Fitch's hatchet and from lawsuit filed by Vodafone, which is seeking one billion in damages for abuse of a dominant position.
