Telecom: European Commission asks for clarification on the decree on golden power, in force from tomorrow

The European Commission wants clarity on the decree with which, starting tomorrow, the government will have the special power (golden power) to impose conditions on Telefonica or even to block the Spanish group, endangering the national interest. The spokesman for the commissioner for the internal market, Michel Barnier, told Radiocor.

The European Commission has asked Italy for "clarifications on the basis of the new decree which includes the Telecom Italia fixed network among assets of strategic importance in the telecommunications sector", a decree which will enter into force tomorrow. This was announced to Radiocor by the spokesman of the commissioner for the internal market, Michel Barnier.

The Commission requested information on the connection between the communications sector assets mentioned in the decree and national security interests that may be endangered. With this decree, the government will have the special power (golden power) to impose conditions on Telefonica or even to block the Spanish group, endangering the national interest.
