The exhibition 'La Grande Madre' in Milan will host a preview in Italy of the performance by the Slovak artist Roman Ondák “Teaching to walk“. Every day, in the halls of the exhibition, a mother will teach her child to walk.
PERFORMANCE – TEACHING TO WALK
On the occasion of the performance "Teaching to walk" (2002), which arrives in our country for the first time, the Nicola Trussardi Foundation is looking for mothers and children (male) who can come once a day, for a few days and for half It's about an hour to visit the exhibition and walk around the exhibition spaces with your child.?
“Teaching to walk” was born from the personal experience of the artist who, as a father, found himself observing and sharing the intimacy that was created between his wife and their child in the moments in which she taught him to walk. “Teaching to walk” isolates the precise moment in which a son literally takes his first steps towards independence and gradually loses physical contact with his mother. Capturing an absolutely unpredictable action, such as the behavior of a child, the work is constantly evolving and accompanies the public to discover and share this very important moment, not just representing it, but rather creating a real involvement.

It is a call open to the entire Instagram community: an invitation to share, with a photo, your first steps or those of those you have loved or love. An unpredictable instant. The first gesture of independence.? Participating is simple: just post one or more images on Instagram with the hashtag #TeachingToWalk. All the photographs shared by the community will be collected in a large album in progress, which can be browsed on the website www.lagrandemadre.org.?
