For days the news has spread that the Monti government intends to tax pets, considered as "luxury goods" - The news is obviously false and most likely stems from an incorrect interpretation of the concept of "income meter" .

Dog taxes, the hoax travels on the net

It's true, probably the ICI on the first house will come back to life. But from here to taxing the living beings that live in the house, the step is not short. For some weeks now, the absurd news has been circulating according to which, to restore the distorted Italian accounts, the Monti government intends to impose a sample on the head of none other than pets. A hoax, of course.

Yet the rumor spread on the net at an embarrassing speed. Running through the social networks, she has grown like a snowball rolling down the mountain ridge. And finally the avalanche came. Reassured by the safety of others, outraged by the same easy indignation in the face of photos of furry faces treated as solid urban waste, thousands of users had no doubts in sticking the label of truth on this bar story.

In reality, ab origine, everything stems from a trivial misunderstanding. The expenses incurred for the care of the animals will not be scourged by the tax authorities, they will only enter a be part of the hundred parameters on which the income meter is based. In short, from next February the amount a taxpayer spends on animals will be taken into account to estimate his real standard of living. It serves to limit tax evasion. Italian law protects animals, it does not treat them as inanimate "luxury goods". A puppy is not a spider.
