Superbonus 110% stimulates construction: +5 thousand companies in 3 months

Super bonus 110% launched by the Government as part of the relaunch decree, it seems to have achieved, at least in this initial phase, one of the objectives it had set itself. According to Unioncamere, in fact, the tax relief on expenses incurred for interventions that improve the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce seismic risk has stimulated the birth of almost 5 thousand construction companies (+4.971 to be precise) allowing the Italian entrepreneurial system to hold its positions, increasing by almost 24 thousand units compared to the previous quarter. This is the picture that emerges from Unioncamere-InfoCamere data on the dynamics of Italian companies.

“Resources for energy efficiency and the safety of real estate assets seem to have affected the vitality of a crucial sector such as construction which, between July and September, is noted for an increase of 0,6% on a quarterly basis, double compared to the same period of 2019. For three quarters (3.691 companies) this growth is due to small individual companies, specialists in plant engineering and building finishing activities and window and door installers”, reads the report.

Commerce is also adapting to the new scenario determined by the "Covid-economy", focusing above all on e-commerce: +1.542 in the third quarter, almost 40% of the 4.202 commercial enterprises registered in the quarter (+0,3% increase, in line with that of the same period last year).

Compared to the second quarter, the balance between the companies born (66.355) and those that ceased activity (42.849) in the third quarter closed with a credit balance of 23.506 units which brought the consistency of the Italian entrepreneurial system to touch – at the end of September – 6.082.297 registered companies.

"Compared to the first two quarters of 2020 - in which the flow of new openings and closures had been deeply affected by the health emergency - the summer quarter seems to mark a return to "normality" on the opening of new businesses (66.355, in line with the 66.823 of July-September 2019), while a strong "dissonance" of closures persists (42.859 against 52.975 in the same period of 2019). A signal (perhaps) of the widespread attitude of many operators waiting, probably, for the prospects linked to the use of the resources of the Recovery Fund to be clarified”, underlines Unioncamere.

Speaking of the other sectors, in the three summer months, positive changes were recorded in all sectors of activity:

  • accommodation and catering services (+3.350 units, in line with 2019),
  • professional, scientific and technical activities (+2.358)
  • service activities for businesses (+1.829),
  • real estate activities (+1.561),
  • information and communication services (+1.214).

The advance of manufacturing activities was very slight (+0,1% as in the summer of 2019). On the other hand, agriculture, energy and water supply, network and waste management closed the quarter in substantial stalemate.

From a territorial point of view, it is the South that contributes to the positive balance of the quarter, recording the only growth rate higher than the national average (+0,5 compared to +0,4%). A result resulting from almost 30 registrations of new businesses against just under 13 closures in the period.

Between the regions, Lombardy (+3.604 businesses) recorded the largest growth, followed by Campania (+3.461) and Lazio (+3.403). In relative terms, Campania (+0,58%) instead shows the most visible progress, ahead of Lazio and Sicily (both with +0,51%).

Finally, at the provincial level, all the top positions are occupied by southern provinces with Caserta in the lead (+0,8%) followed by Trapani (+0,72%) and Lecce (+0,68%). In absolute terms, the ranking of the most consistent balances instead reflects the map of the provinces with the greatest concentration of economic activities, with Rome in the lead (with 2.653 more companies in the quarter), followed by Milan (+2.021) and Naples (+1.748) .
