State, signed the decree: here is the money for the contracts, the latest news

The Minister of Public Administration Marianna Madia has finally announced the signing of the decree that releases the money necessary for the long-awaited renewal of public employment contracts, for recruitment and for the reorganization of the Public Administration.

The Minister of Public Administration Marianna Madia has finally announced the signing of the decree that releases the money needed for the long-awaited renewal of contracts of public employment, for hiring and for the reorganization of the Public Administration.

The announcement came today, March 8, on the sidelines of a meeting on Open Data held at Palazzo Vidoni. After the go-ahead from ministers Madia and Pier Carlo Padoan (Economy) and premier Paolo Gentiloni, the text is now being examined by the Court of Auditors.

Speaking of the contracts, Madia explained that: "We continue on the roadmap, respecting the commitments made since the agreement of November 30" between the ministry and the unions, which paved the way for the reopening of negotiations. Commitments which among other things provide an increase in payroll for civil servants equal to 85 euros per month. In the agreement, underlines the minister, "we have lined up everything needed to be able to make a new contract, which has been on hold for many years".

As regards the resources to be allocated to the renewal of the contracts, in addition to the 300 million already allocated for 2016, the disbursement of 900 million is expected for 2017 and 1,2 billion in 2018, for a total of 2,4 billion euros. A figure that should be enough to cover the 85 euro increase in payroll. Further resources, on the basis of the provisions of the agreement signed last November, will be found with the next financial manoeuvres.

The allocation provides for channeling most of the funds allocated to contracts, while another part will go to the police for 80 euros and for the reorganization. And then there is "a third part, relating to extraordinary hiring, which we have already anticipated in this decree as regards magistrates", Madia underlined. The remaining money will be distributed through a subsequent decree and will be allocated to extraordinary hiring in the state.
