Spending review for Berlusconi: the profits of reserve holding companies

Holding Italiana Prima, Terza and Ottava have allocated the entire profit to reserves – The decision not to distribute dividends was taken despite the accounts of the three vehicles having closed the 2013 financial year with profits that had risen thanks to the shot in the arm guaranteed by Fininvest, which distributed around 42 million to the three holding companies.

Spending review for Berlusconi: the profits of reserve holding companies

Even in Silvio Berlusconi's house there is talk of a spending review. According to last year's financial statements, the personal companies of the former Premier (Holding Italiana Prima, Terza and Ottava) have allocated the entire profit to reserves, thus leaving their sole shareholder empty-handed. Only the last safe is missing, Holding Seconda, but it is presumable that it too has aligned itself with the others.

The decision not to distribute dividends was taken despite the fact that the accounts of the three vehicles closed the 2013 financial year with increased profits thanks to the shot in the arm guaranteed by Fininvest, which distributed a total of 94 million reserves to the upper floors of the company pyramid. A check for around 42 million went to the three holdings: the First collected 16 million from via Paleocapa, the Third 7,3 million and the Ottava 19,1 million.

In detail, the Holding Prima achieved a profit of 30 million as at 2013 September 17,9 (from 1,9 million the year before), accounting for liquidity for 1,4 million and a shareholding package valued at 234,4 million. Holding Prima owns 17,1% of Fininvest, 30% of Immobiliare Dueville and 33% of Holding Terza. The latter, on the other hand, achieved a positive net result of 7,15 million (-29 thousand euros in 2012) and holds 7,8% of Fininvest and 40% of Immobiliare Milanodue in its portfolio.

The liquid assets of this company amount to 715 thousand euros. Finally, Ottava Holding closed its 2013 financial statements with profits of 19,8 million (1,2 million a year ago). In the belly of the safe a 30% share of two of the real estate properties that own the Cavaliere's real estate assets, namely Dueville and Milanodue, and 20,48% of Fininvest. The Ottava's bank deposits amounted to 1,2 million substantially stable compared to twelve months ago.
