He will have to contend with 62 competitors from all over the world who will have to demonstrate perfect mastery not only of the universe of wine, but also of beers, liqueurs, sake, water, coffee, tea and gastronomy

Daniele Arcangeli, Best Sommelier of Italy ASPI 2015, will represent Italy for the title of "Best Sommelier of the ASI World" which will be assigned in Antwerp in March 2019. Arcangeli will have to contend with sixty-five sommeliers, coming from 62 countries in the world, and the three winners of the Continental titles who are members of the Associations recognized by ASI – Association de la Sommellerie Internationale.

Arcangeli, currently Sommelier at The Fat Duck Group, a group that includes several famous restaurants in England including the famous The Fat Duck in Brey on Themes, three Michelin stars, began to take his first steps in the restaurant and hotel world in 1991 working in Versilia, the land of which he is originally from, like Commis di Sala.

After completing his studies, he undertook numerous experiences in Italy and abroad, in prestigious structures such as The Langham Hotel 5* Hilton Hotels & Resort in London, Hotel Pitrizza 5The Starwood Luxury Collection of Porto Cervo, Hotel Principe Forte dei Marmi 5L Member of Leading Hotel of the World, Badrutt's Palace 5L Member of Leading Hotel of the World in St. Moritz. The last two years see him as Head Sommelier at "Borgo Santo Pietro" in Chiusdino (Siena), a hotel facility part of the Relais & Chateaux circuit, Restaurant Manager and Head Sommelier at the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte with the Il Piccolo Principe restaurant* in Viareggio, up to assisting the Head Sommelier at the Pierre Gagnaire restaurant ** at Le Palace Les Airelles in Courchevel in France.

In the competition to become Best Sommelier in Italy ASPI 2015 also stood out for having brilliantly passed tests that testified to the evolution taking place in the figure of the Sommelier, increasingly called to be an all-round professional, capable of spanning the vast world of drinks. And now Arcangeli is ready to represent Italy as a candidate for the title of "Best Sommelier in the World", a competition that sublimates the art of Sommellerie giving prestige and prestige to the individual professional and to the entire sector.

The competition, now in its sixteenth edition, is organized by ASI - Association de la Sommellerie Internationale and each member country can present a candidate selected through special tests among those in possession of national titles. Italy has chosen Arcangeli who will compete in Antwerp from 10 to 15 March 2019 facing a very high level competition which will consist of three distinct moments: written tests, practical service tests and some blind tasting tests. Three days in which candidates will be asked to show all their expertise in sommellerie, the result of years of study and practice in the field. Because winning the title of Best Sommelier in the World in the 21st century means having perfect mastery not only of the universe of wine, but also of beers, liqueurs, sake, water, coffee, tea and gastronomy.
