Solar Impulse: completed world tour

Solar Impulse, the aircraft powered exclusively by solar energy, has completed its historic feat: it completed its round-the-world flight by landing in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) at 04:05 local time, after more than 43 kilometers traveled in over a year and four months and 17 stages across four continents, piloted alternately by the two promoters of the project, the Swiss Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg.

The unprecedented feat of an aircraft powered only by the sun and capable of flying many days and nights in a row without fuel has shown that "clean technologies can achieve the impossible," says a Solar Impulse release.
