Cigarettes, prices towards a new rise

The Government is once again about to put its hand on excise duties: each pack of cigarettes should increase by around 10-20 cents – Here are all the prices.

Cigarettes, prices towards a new rise

I cigarette prices they are about to increase. Again the Government will deal with excise duties, with the aim of collecting around 200 million euros from the new ban on smoking. The figure in itself is not particularly significant for the state accounts, but under current conditions it still represents an important step towards the 3,4 billion euros that Brussels has forced us to find to correct the 2017 accounts.

For consumers the price of each pack of cigarettes should increase by approx 10-20 cents. A periodic tax to which smokers should be accustomed by now, given that between 2006 and 2016 the prices of cigarettes rose by an average of 25%.

The increase, however, has not yet arrived. Pending the provision (taken for granted) and the subsequent adjustment of the price list by the producers, we summarize below the prices of the most common cigarettes (in alphabetical order), as shown by the State Monopolies tables updated to March 8, 2017.
