Sea: Modiano, found an agreement with the EU, solution by the end of the year

A solution has been found with the European Union for SEA, the group that manages the Milan airport system. By the end of the year, a new Italhanding company will be born, which will take care of the ground activities of Malpensa. This is supported by the president of SEA, Pietro Mondano, on Radiocor.

Sea: Modiano, found an agreement with the EU, solution by the end of the year

"With the EU Commission there is a line drawn and shared, we aim for a quick solution, by the end of the year, which eliminates the uncertainties for the company and its workers with a non-monetary reimbursement of the fine". With these words, the president of SEA, Pietro Mondiano, commented to Radiocor on the situation of the subsidiary Sea Handling, on which a Community fine of 360 million (plus interest) is pending.

The proposal shared by the European Union consists in the creation of a new company, Italhanding, which should take care of Malpensa's ground activities.

Modiano then, after an informal hearing on the SEA with a delegation from the Senate's European Union Political Commission, added: “It will be up to us to testify that in the new society there is discontinuity with respect to the past. We will find a solution that protects workers and their rights, if there is maximum institutional solidarity”.

Asked instead about the risk of airports in the North, which could soon see an agreement between Verona and Venice, Modiano expressed himself as follows: "We are interested spectators, there are continuous contacts with Bergamo".
