Un new train strike is coming soon weekend of February 22th and 23th, with possible cancellations e delays on the entire Italian railway network. The agitation, proclaimed by the Usb Private Labour Union, will involve Trenitalia, Italo e Trenord from 21:00 pm on Saturday 22nd until 20:59 pm on Sunday 23rd February. But it doesn't end here: on February 24, in fact, a further strike is planned that will involve local public transport staff and, on the same day, the air sector will also suffer inconvenience with a halt to operations by Aeroitalia and EasyJet.
Train strike 22nd and 23rd February: guaranteed time slots and minimum services
During the strike, Trenitalia will guarantee the circulation of regional trains in protected time slots from 7:00 to 10:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00. The complete list of guaranteed runs for long-distance trains is available on the official Trenitalia website. Italo will allow passengers to reschedule their journey or request a full refund in the event of a cancellation or delay of more than 60 minutes. Trenord, However, does not provide warranty bands, and trains will depart only if arrival is expected by 22pm on Saturday 00nd. For airport connections, Trenord will provide replacement buses without intermediate stops between Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport.
Train strike: how to ask for a refund from Trenitalia, Italo and Trenord
The strike could also cause changes before and after the mobilization time slot. Those who decide to give up the trip can request the ticket refund according to the methods established by the individual operators.
For Trenitalia, travellers will be able to request a refund before the train departs, with the specification that for regional trains the request must be submitted by midnight on the day before the protest. Those who have booked a long-distance journey will also be able to reschedule their journey on another available train.
Italo offers a similar solution, allowing a full refund or rescheduling of the journey in the event of delays of more than 60 minutes or cancellation of the train. Travellers will be able to choose whether to be refunded for the part of the journey not made or to reschedule the departure for another available time.
For those travelling with Trenord, the company guarantees a full refund of the ticket even if it has already been validated, provided that a check is carried out by Trenord staff. The refund request must be submitted within 30 days of the travel date.
