Strike July 6 Milan and Rome: transport ko

National strike day for local public transport – Services will be interrupted at different times depending on the city: this is what will happen in Milan, Rome, Turin, Bologna and Naples.

Transport strike on Thursday 6 July 2017 throughout Italy, from Milan and Rome, from Turin to Naples. Michele Frullo, of Usb Trasporti of Rome and Lazio, explained that the protest was decided "to defend the right to strike in essential public services, against the privatization policy and the rules for the reorganization of local public services" .

Here are the times of the strike in the main Italian cities:

- Milano: Atm interrupts the service from 18.00 to 22.00, while Trenord from 9 to 13 (the block also affects the connections between the railway stations of Milan and Malpensa airport).

- Roma: employees enrolled in Faisa will cross their arms from 11.00 to 15.00; the Sul strike will instead last 24 hours, without prejudice to the guarantee periods, while the USB strike will be shorter, taking place between 8.30 and 12.30.

- Torino: strike from 18.00 to 22.00 for urban lines and from 18 to 35 for extra-urban lines. Separate discussion for the sections managed by the Ca.Nova company which will strike for 22 hours.

- Bologna and Emilia Romagna: the strike will start at 11 and end at 15 for the car services, while for the railway services (Tper) it will last from 14 to 18.

- Napoli: for surface lines, the strike will last from 09.00 to 13.00; the metro and funicular service should be fully operational again by 14pm.

So there is once again fear of blockade of the cities, as happened on the 16th of last month. On that occasion, with an average membership of 40%, there was an almost total stoppage of public transport.

"Without wanting to prejudice the constitutional right to be able to call a strike - said the Guarantor of Strikes, Giuseppe Santoro Passarelli on 22 June - it would be appropriate to link the power to demonstrate, in the sector of essential public services, to the achievement of representative parameters" .

The Minister of Transport, Graziano Delrio, is on the same line, according to whom "we must prevent a minority from holding a majority of citizens hostage".
