The Italian current balance can be supported by exports of goods and services and by the income from work earned by Italians abroad. The Italian ski sector comforts our current balance under all three chapters. Martina Merlet, a 28-year-old ski instructor – the only foreigner in China who has an instructor certification issued by the 'Chinese Ski Association' – works at the 'Nordica training camp' and her courses are highly sought after. But, Martina complains, the Chinese look at skiing as parachuting or 'bungee jumping': something to try once and then let it go... But Martina doesn't give up: the Chinese are a fifth of the world's population, but attendance at ski resorts they are only a fortieth of the total in the world. There is therefore a lot of room to grow, even if snow in China is neither safe nor abundant, as observed by Remigio Brunelli, the manager of 'Bejing Tecnica Sport Equipment Co. Ldt.
Martina began working as a ski instructor in 2009, at the 'Ole Sports Center' in Beijing, managed by another Italian, Fabio Ries, the co-founder of the 'Duolomeidi Mountain Resort' ski resort, not far from the capital.
