School and Maturity 2020: all passed, "light" exams

The Ministry of Education is working on a new decree: zero failures this year, but it won't be a "political 6" for everyone - The idea of a single maxi-oral exam is making headway for the high school diploma - Teachers divided

School and Maturity 2020: all passed, "light" exams

What will become of2019 school year / 2020? The Ministry of Education is writing a first decree to address the problem. In addition to the suspension of teaching, we need to understand what the fate of the next ones will be state exams: Maturity e Third year of middle school.

According to sources quoted by the newspaper "La Repubblica", the plan to get out of this unprecedented situation foresees that no student is rejected. However, this does not mean that the ministry will impose the "political 6" discipline on teachers: yes, teachers will have to promote all pupils from the first grade to the penultimate year of high school - to take into account the exceptional circumstances of this year - but debts in one or more matters will still remain possible.

As for the exams Maturity, which will involve 460 thousand guys, will necessarily have to take place in a simplified form. For the details we will have to wait a few more weeks, but it seems that there are not many alternatives on the table. Just two.

1) If we returned to school within the first week of May (hypothesis for the remote truth) all students would be admitted to the final test, which would begin on June 17 with the Italian theme, and conclude between the end of the month and the beginning of July with the orals.

2) If, however, as is probable, no more going back to school this year, then the upheaval of maturity would be even more profound. All students would continue to be admitted, but for health reasons they would miss the written tests, as already happened in L'Aquila in 2009 and in the province of Modena in 2012, after the earthquakes. The exam, therefore, would consist only the oral interview, but at that point it would come strengthened, for example with mathematical exercises or translations. In this case the possible start dates would be June 17th or July XNUMXst, provided that everything must be completed by mid-July. As for the practical methods of carrying out the exam, in order not to break the anti-contagion rules, the candidates could be summoned individually, without witnesses. Or, as a last resort, the interview could take place remotely.

If the bulk promotion of all the students does not convince all the professors, sulla methods of restructuring exams instead there is a general consensus. The CGIL school asks to extend the same probable scheme for the high school diploma (no writing, only extra large oral) also to thethird grade exam: “An overall scenario of the ministry is needed – says Graziamaria Pistorino, of the FLC national secretariat – The oral exam could be scheduled in mid-June for the first degree and in the first half of July for the second degree. We need to eliminate Invalsi and School-to-work alternation ".
