Sanremo 2025: how much does Rai cost and how much does it earn? Between the hosts' and guests' fees and advertising, here are the festival's numbers

Now everything is ready. The curtain is about to open on Sanremo 2025, an event that for five consecutive evenings, from Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th February, will keep millions of Italians glued to the TV. The 75th edition of the festival will also mark the Return of Carlo Conti as host and artistic director, after the four years in which Amadeus revolutionized the festival, transforming it into an event followed by young people and omnipresent on social media and in the rankings of streaming platforms. Between competing singers and various gossip, exceptional co-hosts and super guests, there will be something for everyone in what has now returned to being the temple of Italian music. However, Sanremo is not just a singing event, it is also a money machine cwhich this year will produce a record economic impact equal, according to EY estimates, to 245,1 million euro, forty million more than in 2024, with a added value of 97,9 million and the creation of 1.459 jobs.

“Forecasts indicate that Sanremo will continue to be an event of great economic importance, with potential further increases in investment and overall economic impact. The growing attention of sponsors and the increase in public participation represent positive indicators for future editions,” explained Mario Rocco, Head of Valuation, Modelling & Economics at EY, presenting the survey carried out by the consultancy.

How much does Sanremo 2025 cost?

But let's start with the expenses: there are no certain or official figures, since the state TV does not reveal them, but according to EY, organizing the festival of Sanremo 2025 cost Rai around 20 million of euros, two million more than at 18 last year, three more than in 2023. A figure that takes everything into account: fromrent of the Ariston theatre, equal to 1,6 million euros, up to the salaries of those who work behind the scenes and the costs related to the rights of the “Festival della Canzone Italiana” brand. A lot of money, but well spent, considering the revenues, the enormous advertising revenues and the success of what is now in all respects a cultural event.

Sanremo 2025: Carlo Conti's fee, co-hosts' and guests' compensation, reimbursements for competing singers

Among the largest expenditure items are Carlo Conti's fee, the compensation of co-hosts and guests of each evening, but also the reimbursements destined for the singers. According to estimates, Carlo Conti should earn about half a million euros, a figure that includes both the conduction of the five evenings of the Festival, and all the preparatory work, begun several months ago, as artistic director. This is, among other things, a compensation in line with what Amadeus received in previous editions.

Let's move on to the co-hosts: Antonella Clerici, Gerry Scotti, Bianca Balti, Cristiano Malgioglio, Nino Frassica, Elettra Lamborghini, Miriam Leone, Katia Follesa, Geppi Cucciari, Alessia Marcuzzi and Alessandro Cattelan. It is already known that Gerry Scotti has renounced his fee, all the others should receive instead between 20 and 40 thousand euros each.

However, the fees of the super guests who will alternate on the Ariston stage night after night, from Jovanotti to Damiano David. However, there are no standard figures, but the fees can vary from 50 to 100 thousand euros.

Finally, the singers in competition: they do not receive actual compensation, but expense reimbursements which in 2025 according to rumours Sun 24 Hours have risen from 55 thousand to 62mila euros, to which, in the case of groups, is added an additional 3 thousand euros for each band member.

For the cover night, scheduled for Friday, February 14, Rai will reimburse an additional 3 euros for the guest, which becomes 5 if the guest is a group. “The record companies, for each artist in the competition, invest a total of 100 to 150 euros,” reveals the Milanese economic daily.

Sanremo 2025, the festival's revenues: towards a new record?

Sixty million euros is the figure to beat. Sanremo 2024 has earned that much thanks to a record advertising revenue. And, based on the data, it seems that the goal has already been reached. This year, in fact, between advertising and sponsors, Rai would already have 67 million euros in its safe. Almost double compared to 2020 (37-38 million), but much more than 2021 (40 million), 2022 (42 million) and 2023 (50 million). Money that represents a blessing for the chiaroscuro balance of Rai, which is facing a very difficult period in terms of ratings.

Where does the new record come from? With ever-increasing audience ratings, with the latest edition averaging 66% share, Rai has been able to once again raise the price list of advertising, with increases averaging around 7%. Other activities that take place outside the Ariston Theatre also have an impact, with projects that have involved the entire city.

How much do Sanremo 2025 tickets cost?

Revenues also have an impact the increases in ticket prices for those who want to attend the Festival from the Ariston Theatre. The price in 2025 would in fact have increased by 19% compared to last year. On average, those who want to attend the festival live have to pay 110 euros for the gallery and 200 euros for the stalls. This is for the first four nights, from 11 to 14 February. For the final, the cost of tickets increases even more: 360 euros for the gallery and a whopping 730 euros to sit in the stalls.

The economic impact of Sanremo 2025

Finally, there is one last aspect to take into consideration when talking about Sanremo. That is the enormous economic impact of the Festival: according to EY calculations, the economic impact of Sanremo 2025 is equal to 245,1 million of euros, with an added value of 97,9 million and the creation of 1.459 total jobs. A significant increase compared to the 2024 edition, which stood at approximately 205 million.

Looking at the individual entries, the iInvestments for the organization have generated a direct economic impact of 20 million euros, to which is added an indirect impact of 20,3 million and an induced impact of 7,6 million euros, for a total of 47,9 million, while the activity of spectators and professionals present in Sanremo, contributes alone 25 million and an added value of 11,5 million, creating approximately 220 jobs.

Le advertising and sponsorship expenses made publicly available will have an overall economic impact of 172 million, with an added value of 67 million and the creation of 910 jobs.
