Smartphone Samsung in the crosshairs ofItalian antitrust, which opened an investigation into Samsung Electronics Italia, Opia and World Business for alleged deceptive and aggressive conduct. The Authority points the finger at "promotions which offer the possibility of selling an old mobile phone at advantageous prices in case of purchase of a new one", reads in a note.

According l 'Antitrust, however, "there would be a lack of adequate and clear information, so much so that the consumer would not be able to understand that it is a complex sale process of the used product and that the one indicated represents only a rough estimate".
The Antitrust therefore "will evaluate the way in which the used product is resold - continues the note - the consumer, in fact, does not know the sale price and it is a third party, or the buyer, who decides the state of use and the price itself”.
On Tuesday, Authority officials carried out inspections at the premises of the affected companies with the help of the Special Antitrust Unit of the Guardia di Finanza.

But how does the evaluation used Samsung? The "Change with Galaxy" promotion, valid from 13 to 31 July 2022, allows you to have your smartphone, tablet or PC evaluated against the purchase of Galaxy S22 Series, Galaxy Tab S8 Series, or Galaxy Book2. However, only a part of the value of the used device that is given is immediately recognized (100 euros) and the rest of the discount, if any, is credited to the customer's current account within 30 days of purchasing the new device. The procedure is evidently considered by the competition guarantor to be deficient in terms of clarity of communication.
