Salvator Dalí, the film "The quest for immortality" will soon be in theaters

“The Quest for Immortality” is made by DocDoc Films and distributed by Radio Capital, Sky Arte and MYmovies.it, not yet streamed.

Direct by David Pujol and in collaboration with the Museum Dalí, film traces the painter's life from 1929, the year in which he embraced Surrealism, until his death in 1989, touching on the great moments of his professional life as well as those of his private life: the meeting with his great love and inspiring muse Gala , cause ofl very serious quarrel with father along with his connection to the surrealists, his passion for the excess, the individualistic and provocative character of his art, his activities as an illustrator, etc…

But the life of Dalí it's not shown as much via these milestones anymore known by the public, which remain in the background, as much as through the places that mattered a lot to him and his production: in first place Portlligat, Spain, where is there small fisherman's housei which he expanded over time, in which lived and worked until 1982 and portrayed for example ne Our Lady of Port Lligat in 1950. Figueres, the artist's hometown, in which he had the Theater-Museum rebuilt Dalí starting from the old city theater, ruined by the bombings of the Spanish Civil War; here are works by him, but also by other artists such as Duchamp and, above all, in the basement it is preserveta the grave of Dalí. For this reason, the museum constitutes a kind of testamentbiographical and artistic.

Also very important was the Castle of Púbol, with its interior frescoed by the artist himself and who Dalí he gave his wife Gala: she gave him the condition never to come there unless he and her were invited he agreed, considering the condition as their version of ancient courtly love. Here he also spent his last years of life.

After this parenthesis of the most "intimate" places for the painter, they don't comeor even neglected Paris and New York: the French capital greatly influenced him, being the heart of Surrealism, while the American metropolis became a very important channel for his success, thanks to the exhibitions that were organized there, prominent contacts and journalistic scandals which brought him much publicity, thanks to his eccentric, theatrical and provocative way of doing.

It will be interesting to find out if it will be given space also for the other great protagonists of the twentieth century who Dalí he met in these and other cities as well: Luis Buñuel, Garcia Lorca, Picasso, Mirò, even Walt Disney.

This film opens the first part of the 2018/2019 season de The Great Art at the Cinema, also by Nexo Digital: will follow Klimt and Schiele. Eros and Psyche on 22-23-24 October, Monet's water lilies. A spell of water and light on November 26-27-28 and The Man Who Stole Banksy on 11 and 12 December.
