Salini-Impregilo, super order worth almost 1 billion in Libya

Salini Impregilo, leader with a 58% share of a consortium of Italian companies, will build the first lot of the new Libyan coastal highway for a total value of approximately 963 million euros.

Salini Impregilo, leader with a 58% share of a consortium of Italian companies which also includes the Italian company for water pipes, Impresa Pizzarotti & C. and Cooperativa Muratori & Cementisti – CMC, will build the first lot of the new Libyan coastal highway for a total value of approximately 963 million euro.

The new highway will cross the territory of Libya for 1.700 kilometers from the border with Tunisia to the border with Egypt and its construction is an integral part of the agreements signed between the Italian Government and the Government of Libya in Benghazi with the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation on 30 August 2008. The contract, financed by the Italian government, provides for a performance bond of 2% and a contractual advance of 15% equal to 145 million.

The first lot of the coastal highway to be built by the Salini Impregilo Group is approximately 400 kilometers long and extends from the city of Al Marj to Emsaad on the border with Egypt. The highway consists of two lanes in each direction with a width of 3,75 meters each. The project involves the construction of 12 bridges totaling 2,2 kilometers long, 8 service areas, and 6 parking areas. A workforce of around 2.000 people is expected.
