As has already happened in recent months - especially during the first spring lockdown - the restrictions imposed by the pandemic will cause the percentage of those who make purchases via the internet to skyrocket: the figure will rise to 35% of the total, i.e. 13,7% more than the previous year. 'Last year. At the same time, the number of purchases in physical stores will drop by 8,1%. The estimate is from the Confcommercio Research Office.

The analysis also shows that this year the share of Italians who will take advantage of the sales will remain substantially stable (64%, against 61,8% in 2020), while the average expenditure per family should drop by as much as 70 euros: from 324 to 254 euros.

“The percentage of those who attach greater importance to the price of products to the detriment of the pursuit of quality has increased (+7,9%), testifying to the economic difficulties that Italian families are going through in this period – reads the survey – Increase your purchase rate by clothing (+ 0,7%) and footwear (+7,3%), while the preference for accessories (-4%) And underwear (-4,5%)".

In absolute terms, according to Confcommercio, Italians will mainly buy clothing on sale (96,6% against 95,9% in 2020), footwear (89,3% against 82% in 2020) , accessories (scarves and gloves) for 33% (they were 37% in the 2020 forecast) and underwear (25,5% against 30% last year).

Perhaps also due to the state of necessity induced by the pandemic, the percentage of consumers who positively judge the quality of products sold on sale increases dramatically (94,1% against 86,4% in January 2020).
