Saipem: maxi order in Oman, the title shines

New maxi order for Saipem. The plant engineering company of the Eni group has been awarded a contract worth about 750 million dollars in Oman, in the onshore E&C sector. In the wake of the news, within an hour of the opening, Saipem's share on the Stock Exchange shot up by 3%, to 3,473 euros, achieving the best rise of the Ftse Mib.

In particular, the contract relates to the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities envisaged by package 3 'Offsite Facilities' within the development project of the Duqm Refinery, located near the coast, in the north-east of Oman.

The contract was awarded by Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company LLC, a Joint Venture between Oman Oil Company (OOC), the national oil company, and Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI). Once completed, the refinery will have a refining capacity of approximately 230 barrels per day.

"We welcome with particular satisfaction the award of this new contract which marks the relaunch of our activities in Oman, a country where Saipem has operated successfully in the past", commented Stefano Cao, Saipem's Chief Executive Officer.
