Ryanair targeted by the Antitrust for canceled flights

The Authority has opened an investigation for unfair commercial practices in relation to the numerous flight cancellations due to organizational and management reasons

The Antitrust has opened an investigation against Ryanair for alleged unfair commercial practices in violation of the Consumer Code. The Authority announced it in a note, explaining that the case has to do with "the numerous flight cancellations made or to be made in the coming weeks, which, according to press reports, could constitute a violation of the duties of diligence referred to in art. 20 of the Consumer Code, to the extent that they would be largely attributable to organizational and management reasons already known to the professional, therefore not to occasional and exogenous causes beyond his control, causing considerable inconvenience to consumers who had long planned the travels and the relative air ticket has already been booked and paid for".

To this is added "a second dispute profile, concerning the content and methods of the information with which Ryanair informed passengers of flight cancellations and presented them with possible solutions (refund or ticket change), which could be suitable for mislead consumers about the existence and therefore the exercise of their right to financial compensation provided for by EC Reg. 261/04 precisely in the event of flight cancellations”, concludes the Antitrust.
