A "good step forward for the energy development of the Ural region". With these words Vladimir Putin commented on Enel's activity in Russia, which led to the inauguration of the Ogk5 Sredneuralskaya Gres station gas-fired combined-cycle plant in the Urals.
For the prime minister, the Italian company is a "reliable" partner that works at a "very high level, respecting ecological standards". 380 million euros have been invested in the project, for a power of 410 MW. The construction of the plant began in September 2008 and was supported by a consortium of Russian and international companies.
According to the Russian government, the Enel plant "will supply 34% of the heating envisaged for the city of Ekaterininburg and 49% of the hot water, while 100% for the area of the central Urals and Verknei Pymy".
