Rome, mosquitoes: stop donating blood

The virus alarm from infected mosquitoes (Chikungunya) has led the National Blood Center of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità to order a ban on blood donations in the ASL 2 of Rome (which includes about one million inhabitants in the eastern and southern areas of the capital ) and in Anzio, where the first outbreaks of the virus, very dangerous even if not fatal, had occurred in recent days.

The block on donations will cause a semi-emergency, because a shortage of 200-250 blood bags is expected in the next few days.
