Rome, Atac stumbles in Transport: immediately find 12 million

Attack in the storm. Again. This time the problems of the Roman municipal company, infamous for its debt monstre worth 1,3 billion euros, come from the DMV and – despite the denials – put the future of the Capitoline public transport service at risk.

What happened? Let's go in order. Companies that provide transport services, for a fee, on the basis of a contract stipulated with a customer must be registered inl Ren, the National Electronic Registry. To register, however, you need financial guarantees that the company in via Prenestina at the moment - needless to say - does not have. For this reason it would be up to the Capitol, as the parent company, to present a bank guarantee of 12 million euro to guarantee the accounts of his municipal company, but to date it seems that the banks are turning a deaf ear. But the problem, in addition to money, is also timing.

Atac's membership in Ren expired 6 months ago and until a few weeks ago the company was able to count on an extension, which ended on March 30th. At this point, therefore, the DMV sent a note to Palazzo Senatorio with which it started the procedures for revoking the concession: if the surety is not renewed by 30 May, the revocation will become effective and the service will be suspended.

This is the summary of what is happening. For the moment, both Capitol and MIT downplay arguing that the note sent yesterday would not represent an ultimatum, but "a normal dialogue between administrations". The dough however, both for Atac and for the Raggi junta, is there.

The two months of time granted to Atac will expire on 30 May, the same day on which the judges of the Bankruptcy Court will return to express their opinion on the request for an arrangement with creditors in continuity after the heavy criticism that arrived on 23 March.

Therefore, between now and the end of May, Atac is playing its future. Incandescent days in which between Via Prenestina (headquarters of Atac, ed.) and Palazzo Senatorio they will have to try to save a company that now seems closer to bankruptcy day by day.
