Asset management: December down, but 2013 a record

The 2013 record-breaking year in asset management ended on a slowdown, the best year since 1999. According to preliminary data released today by Assogestioni, in fact, net inflows in December were negative by 582 million euro (compared to +4,788 billion in the previous month and -4,3 billion a year earlier), putting an end to a positive series that began last January.

In the total calculation for December, institutional portfolio management accounts for a negative €3,096 billion (+14,4 billion since the beginning of the year and +495 million in November), of which -2,3 billion attributable to the Generali group, while open-ended funds recorded positive inflows of 2,708 billion euro (there were 4,273 billion last month, +48,705 billion since the beginning of the year) of which almost 1 billion from Italian-registered funds.

Total assets decreased by 1.331,515 billion against the 1.333,772 in November, but are clearly up on the 1.199,186 billion in December 2012.

Overall funding in 2013 was positive for 64,903 billion euro: the deficits recorded in 2011 and 2012 were abundantly recovered.
