With the acquisition of Erg's hydroelectric plants for one billion euros, Enel strengthens its role as leader in the energy transition and consolidates its presence in renewables in view of the group's decarbonisation objectives

Enel wants to grow inhydroelectric and for this buy from Erg plants for 527 MW of installed capacity for a consideration of one billion euro. The electricity group led by Francesco Starace, who has made renewables his compass for some time to become a recognized leader in Italy and abroad, yesterday signed the agreement with Erg under which Enel will reach around 13 GW in our country of installed hydroelectric capacity, for a total renewable capacity (including geothermal, wind and photovoltaic) of approximately 14,5 GW.

The portfolio of plants that Enel acquires from Erg includes 19 hydroelectric power plants, 7 micro-stations hydroelectric plants, 4 of which are currently under development, 7 major dams and 4 reservoirs located in Umbria, Lazio and Marche for a total installed capacity of 527 MW and an average annual production of approximately 1,5 TWh. Currently, 114 employees are employed in the plants in question.

The transaction, which requires authorization from the Antitrust Authority and the Government, will be completed in early 2022.
