Renzi accelerates on fibre: on 7 April he presents the plan

The prime minister, traveling in the USA, announces on Facebook the first tender to bring fast internet throughout the territory by 2020 and the start of the fiber optic operation with Enel – Internet Day is celebrated on 29 and 30 April , 30 years after "the day Italy discovered the web".

“In April we will be ready with the first tender on ultra-wide band“. To say it is the premier Matteo Renziin a long post on Facebook in which he announced that the Government is accelerating "to bring high-speed Internet connection to all citizens by 2020". The announcement, the first of a long series, should concern the Areas C and D, those facing market failure, while as regards Areas A and B, the launch of the fiber plan is expected Enel , linked to the installation in Italy of approximately 32 million new second generation meters. The premier then posted new updates on his ongoing mission to the US and announced that on April 7, next Thursday, he will present the national fiber project.

“Enel is a great company to be proud of. A large global company, one of the few multinationals whose head and heart are in Italy. We will continue to make it grow, also through the innovative broadband projects that we will present on April 7" said Renzi, reporting on Facebook the first stop of the American mission, in Stillwater, Nevada, visiting the "most innovative renewable energy plant of the world. Which – he adds – is Italian, even if our country often seems to do everything to hide its excellence. You read that right: the most innovative in the world is Italian. Thanks to Enel and Enel Green Power. With the CEO Francesco Starace (who is on site to welcome him, ed) we reap the fruits of years of work that has seen the Italian company become one of the leading companies in the world for geothermal, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal (all realities present in Nevada with a unique technological combination) and in any case very strong also on wind and hydroelectric”.

In his post on Facebook Renzi also announced the celebration, set for April 29 and 30, of theInternet day Italian, thirty years after "the day Italy discovered the Internet", i.e. April 30, 1986, "to celebrate all together the meaning of the revolution that began 30 years ago and to make a commitment to bridge the digital divide over the next four years."

The activities related to the Internet Day will begin on April 29, to involve all schools in Italy, and have the objective of “deepen the meaning of the network, the opportunities it has created and the skills necessary to defend against dangers. The same will happen in all regions, with events dedicated to citizens, businesses and public administration services"
