Rehn: "France and Germany agree on EFSF fund"

As for Italy, “we need clarity on the accounts. Serious behavior on our part would greatly facilitate next Sunday's negotiations” – The Commissioner urges our government to firmly reaffirm its plans to consolidate public finances.

Rehn: "France and Germany agree on EFSF fund"

The European Commission expects it at the EU summit on Sunday "Italy must clearly reaffirm its plans for fiscal consolidation and structural reforms". This was stated by the head of economic affairs, Olli Rehn, in an interview with various newspapers, including the French Les Echos.

According to Rehn, the issue of reorganization of the accounts and reforms in Italy would represent an important factor of the same summit on Sunday - from which new energetic anti-crisis measures are expected - because "we believe that if Italy had a solid commitment with a precise roadmap – said Rehn – this would greatly facilitate negotiations between countries on Sunday”.

The commissioner also called on Germany and France to find an agreement on anti-crisis measures.“It is very important – Rehn said in an interview with the Handesblatt newspaper – that Paris and Berlin cooperate and move forward together. We have to pay attention to what the European treaties allow or not. A direct line between a refinancing by the ECB and the EFSF fund could be difficult”.
