RCS, the board ponders an anti-Cairo counter-plan

RCS, the board ponders an anti-Cairo counter-plan

The Rcs board of directors rejected without appeal Cairo Communication's offer to take over the publisher of Corriere della Sera and Gazzetta dello Sport. No doubts about an ops "not agreed" and characterized by a consideration "significantly discounted".

As revealed by Milano Finanza, the board of directors is already thinking of an alternative plan. Soon, the search for a banking advisor will begin to help define an alternative or modular counter-proposal that can finally solve the problem of debt restructuring.

According to the rumors reported by the economic newspaper, the President Maurizio Costa and the CEO Laura Cioli, would have made contact with various international investment banks to get to open a table.

Currently, however, the road would appear to be uphill. There is no alternative to the ops of the La7 publisher also because Cairo would have the support of Intesa Sanpaolo and Ubi Banca, i.e. the main creditors of RCS. Other operators such as the Gavio Group are being examined which, however, according to the rumors, has already refused to intervene. Looking abroad, a window could open up for the German group Axel Springer, a name already circulated in 2013. If a solution cannot be found, RCS could lean towards a capital increase of 200 million euros.

On the Stock Exchange, the Rcs share closed today's session in the red by 1,8% at 0,57 euro.
