The Antitrust has opened an investigation against Assicurazioni Generali, Ina Assitalia (Generali group), Fondiaria Sai and Unipol Assicurazioni for a possible agreement restricting competition in the local public transport sector.

The Authority is examining 45 tenders called by eight local public transport companies, of which 35 were deserted and 10 had as their only offer that of the company already entrusted with the service.

"In most cases - writes the Authority - the awarding of the service took place and continues to take place through private negotiation, to the benefit of the company historically entrusted with the service, with a substantial increase in premiums over the years".

According to the Antitrust "the elements collected allow us to hypothesize the existence of a coordination between the four companies aimed at limiting the competitive confrontation between them in the participation in the procedures for the assignment of insurance services of the LPT companies located in various areas of the National territory".
