Raggio Brusa, Condè's emotional bet

In a few years the company has managed to bring Sangiovese to its maximum gustatory expressions. The name of the wine, the Ray that burns, refers to the exposure of the land of the vines, a tribute to nature

Raggio Brusa, Condè's emotional bet

A relatively young company, as it was founded by Francesco Condello "only" in 2001, but which has its roots in the love that Francesco has always had for his grandparents' lands. The bond with the territory in which he was born and the passion for viticulture have remained so firmly rooted in him that it led him, precisely in 2001, to follow his vocation and to link his life to the Predappio area, moved above all by the desire to reborn the great Sangiovese of this area. The bet was to create wines, mainly based on Sangiovese, which stood up to other more "noble" areas. He then begins an accurate study of the territory with a precise management of the vineyards. The company has 110 hectares of property, 77 of which are planted with vineyards, at an altitude ranging from 150 to 350 meters above sea level, located entirely around the village. 90% of the surface is cultivated with Sangiovese, while the remaining 10% sees the presence of Merlot. With a view to the sustainable viticulture followed by the company, the maintenance of the correct fertility of the soil is guaranteed by using exclusively organic fertilizer, and only for those plots that really need it.

So far the story.

What we like about this company, beyond the quality expressed by its wines, is Chiara Condello, Francesco's very young daughter. After obtaining a master's degree in Economics from the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan and a CEMS Master in International Management, she joined the company in the summer of 2012 and immediately became its guide, in fact today she is fully involved in all working phases of the company. Her love for Sangiovese di Predappio is contagious. Competence and passion characterize his approach to story telling.

Through his words you can perfectly relive all the emotions that these lands are able to convey in those who love them. Chiara Condello today is also trying her hand at a project that bears her name, moving towards organic and biodynamic.

Bottle of Condé wine

Its award-winning flagship wine, Raggio Brusa Sangiovese Cru 2013, takes its name from the optimal exposure to the morning light of the vineyard from which this wine comes, precisely the "Raggio che Brucia". With an intense and bright ruby red color, the nose reveals fruity hints of cherry and black cherry, floral hints of violet, with balsamic surges that converge towards spicy tones, of wet earth and leather. Tasting shows us that Sangiovese can truly amaze for its elegance and balance. Juicy and tannic, it gives us a remarkable sapidity that extends into a particularly enveloping finish. Destined for a long evolution. Aged 30 months in large barrels and 12 months in bottle.

A wine that will be enhanced if combined with classic dishes of local cuisine, with game, roasts, stews, cheeses.

Price Euro 60.

Condé Winery

The news on Sangiovese, the most widespread - and most versatile - wine in Italy, reports of a Roman tribune Caius Appius who, on the hills of the Forlì Apennines which stands out over the Rabbi valley, allegedly produced a palatable wine which he called Sanguis Jovis, never thinking that after 2000 years that vine would have been so successful providing body to some of the most important Italian wines, one for all Brunello di Montalcino and even to some wines from the Napa Valley in California where it has acclimatised well. On those same hills at an altitude ranging from 150 to 350 meters above sea level now considered the heart of the noblest Sangiovese today stands the Condé Estate, a 110-hectare property, 77 of which are planted with vineyards (72 Sangiovese, 4 Merlot , 1 chardonnay), entirely organic where the processes are practiced in the traditional way. Numerous field jobs are in fact still carried out manually as a strategic choice: from winter pruning to green pruning, from thinning to harvesting, these ancestral methods allow you to have total control over every single vine throughout the year, and have the purpose of obtaining the best grapes possible in the different climatic conditions that characterize different vintages.

The witness of the company founded by Francesco Condello, a successful broker who after 40 years of financial activity decided to devote himself to wine, but with the same approach as his work, that is to arrive at concrete results by adding passion and love for these lands, was picked up by his children Chiara, owner of the company and Francesco. In addition to Raggio Brusa produces Condé Rosè, Condé Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore, Condé Predappio Sangiovese MGA and Riserva MGA, Laguria di Sopra Chardonnay Cru, Massera Merlot Cru.

Thirty hectares of the company are wooded and olive trees. At the center is the completely restored ancient village with a wine resort equipped for hospitality but also for conferences, with three restaurants and a spa.
