La collection becomes more and more interactive and respectful of the environment, thanks to the innovative "Smarty" system, the latest generation "intelligent" containers to increase quantity and quality. By 2025, approximately 50 smart containers will be placed in the areas of the Emilia-Romagna region managed by the Hera Group.
To date, over 3.150 Smarty bins have been installed, equipped with a user recognition system and waste measurement to improve the quality of separate waste collection. Of these, approximately 1.600 were placed in Emilia and 1.550 in Romagna, above all in Rimini, where over 500 workstations are operational (equal to 1.520 bins), and in Riolo Terme, where 30 have been placed in the areas of the forum.
“With the Smarty system, separate waste collection takes another step forward towards innovation, thanks to a technology capable of modulating the product according to needs, and safety, via a protected communication system with data collection directly in the field which is transferred to the operations center,” he specified Franco Fogacci, Central Director of environmental services and fleets of the Hera Group.
The Smarty system includes, in addition to the street containers, also the computerized underground turrets and the Eco Smarty, customizable modular structures equipped with a photovoltaic panel, a sensor for detecting the filling level with data transfer to the operational base and a sanitation system for undifferentiated and organic waste.
Both structures are safe, innovative and also beautify the environment: the Eco Smartys and the turrets are well suited to historical centers and tourist locations, in this way Hera intends to develop a sustainable system of separate waste collection, also improving the perception of the architectural quality of the urban space.
“It is also a flexible and cutting-edge system from a technological point of view, with an eye to aesthetics: the latest generation intelligent containers are in fact more beautiful, thanks to modern shapes and materials, and adaptable to historic centers and Resort; they are also impervious to rainwater and easier to use,” he added William Calabrese, Chief Executive Officer of Uniflotte, the Hera Group company that manages company fleets and environmental containers.
Meanwhile, the sales company of the Hera Group, Hera Comm, was awarded 4 of the lots offered tender from Consip for the supply of electricity to the Public Administrations. The lots relate to the Provinces of Rome, Campania, Calabria and Sicily and concern approximately 39 supply points, for over 3,4 TWh of energy, for a value of over 580 million euros.
The agreement will start at the end of 2021, for a total duration of two years depending on the supply option, at a fixed or variable price, that will be chosen. Hera Comm won the tender by virtue of an advantageous economic offer which also provides for the activation of the Green Option, with the supply of 50% of energy from renewables.
