The crisis doesn't give anyone discounts. Much less to professionals. The new members of the professional categories are no longer attributable to the privileged and wealthy castes of their fathers. The music has changed. The professional world is witnessing an ever more rigid separation into two groups: on the one hand the older ones, who have lived in a prosperous and convenient economic situation, on the other the young people, the new professionals.
The data of theAdepp (Association of private pension institutions) paint this separation in an even more marked way: the average income of under 40 professionals is, on average, 48,4% lower than the income of the over 40s. Among women, the generation gap rises to 55,8%.
The professionals who are having a worse time than the others are architects and lawyers. As far as the latter are concerned, the law has made it mandatory to register in the category fund and the forecast is that at least 10.000 lawyers will leave the register because they cannot afford it. The professionals who, according to statistics, are resisting the crisis are surveyors, biologists and psychologists.
